Diet Rich in Carbohydrates May Increase Prostate Cancer Size, Lab Tests Show

Prostate worries are high on the list for older men but its really younger men in their 30s and 40s who should be worried too. Studies done by Canadian scientists and published in the Journal of The National Cancer Institute are showing that the typical western diet which has about 44% carbohydrate proportion is more likely to increase the size of the prostate and lead to larger prostate cancers in later life.

This was concluded when mice were injected with prostate cancer cell lines and divided into groups of high and low carb diets. The group on a high carb diet developed prostate cancers that were 45% larger than the low carb group and researchers confirm that other studies in humans are showing the same results. The bottom line: Cut down on your carb intake to prevent excessive growth of your prostate!

But what if you have Prostate cancer already? Well, its not too late because another study that cutting out carbs completely from your diet can slow the growth of prostate cancer and give you a better chance at living longer. Duke University urologist Stephen Freedland, MD, said in a news release. “This study showed that cutting carbohydrates may slow tumor growth”

Again we emphasises that although these studies were conducted in mice, there is a high correlation between the effects of diet on cancers between mice and humans and other anecdotal evidence into the hormone insulin confirms that a low or no carb diet which reduces insulin levels is effective at combating a wide range of cancers.

Of course, this is only one piece of the puzzle, albeit an important piece that can be easily adopted by any man afraid of developing prostate cancer. Since it is the leading cause of death for men over 70 years of age, it is advice that should be taken seriously.

In fact, although we have developed and recommend our natural solution to preventing prostate problems, we know from experience that it works best when a good low carb diet is also adopted. So make the decision to go low carb, for more information on low carb diets, see the following links:
